St. Michael the Archangel & Isabelle Luke Scholarships


Eligibility Requirements

1. The family of the Applicant must be active, contributing, and registered at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Waterloo, IN.

 

2. The Applicant must be accepted to a college, university, trade or technical school.

 

3. The Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the spring of 2024.

 

4. The scholarship is good only for the school term beginning in the summer or fall following high school graduation. Checks are sent directly to the bursar's office of the school being attended by the graduate.

 

5. Important Due Dates – The completed application, 250-word essay, official high school transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, and class ranking must be returned to the Parish Office at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Waterloo, IN by 12 noon on May 10th, 2024.


General Guidelines

1. The Scholarship Committee will select the recipient(s) based on meeting the eligibility requirements. The Scholarship Committee is comprised of a member(s) from each of the following groups: the Finance Committee and Parish Pastoral Council.

 

2. The Isabelle Luke Scholarship is a single scholarship and will be comprised of $500.00 from the Isabelle Luke Scholarship Fund and an additional $500.00 from the St. Michael the Archangel Scholarship Fund equaling a total of $1,000.00.

 

3. The St. Michael Scholarship will be a $1,000.00 award, per recipient, from the St. Michael the Archangel Scholarship Fund.

 

4. If there is only one eligible applicant in a year, that applicant will be awarded both scholarships.

 

5. If there are more than two eligible applicants in a year, additional scholarships will be granted based on funds available in the Scholarship Fund with the intention that all eligible applicants receive a $1,000.00 scholarship.

 

6. The following is the selection criteria for determining the recipients of the scholarships:

a. Scholastic record

b. Leadership and extra-curricular activities

c. Church and community service

d. Work experience

e. Financial need

f. Possible personal interview of finalists

g. Completed application, 250-word Essay, official H.S. transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, and class ranking

h. All criteria must be returned by the deadline; late applications may not be considered.
