We have five branches of ministries. If there is a will, there is a way for you to become active with our parish family! Contact the office or the contact person noted for a specific ministry, or fill out the form here, and learn how you can become involved with our commuity as you grow in your relationship with our Lord.

Administration Ministries

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC is involved in most activities and programs affecting the liturgical and spiritual life of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Finance Council

Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish. They are responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets. Committee head: Phil Schlink

Scrip

Scrip gift cards are sold after all weekend Masses. The church receives a percentage from each scrip card sold. Please consider supporting our church by purchasing Scrip for things you already need to buy.

Flowers and Grounds

Those who care for and beautify the grounds and church. Committee head: Carl Buchs

Cemetery Maintenance

Those who maintain the cemetery grounds. Cemetery sexton: Mike Blomeke, Maintenance: Bill Buchs

 

Historic Committee 

Those who organize and maintain items from our parish's past for all parishioners to view and enjoy. Please contact Jennie Blomeke at 260-925-1505 for questions or to join the committee.

Community Life Ministries

Youth Group

Children and teens in grades 6th-12th come together for social, service, and worship activities. There are various get-togethers montly. Contact Jenny Buchs for more information. 

Rosary Society

Women who pray the rosary together, organize monthly service projects, bring in speakers, host social events, and do various projects throughout the year, as needed. They meet on the first Tuesday of the month: September, October, November, February, March, April, May and June at 7:00 p.m. Contact Betty Hamman or Jean Dunn for more information. 

Harvest House

This group is for anyone aged 50 and older. They meet the fourth Thursday of the month at 11:00 a.m. to pray the rosary. Mass follows at 11:30. A potluck lunch, meeting, and program conclude the get-together. Please contact Jim and Sharon Garman for more information. 

Quilting Group

Women of the parish meet every Thursday from 2-4 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This group is sponsored by the Rosary Society, and all women are welcome. They are always looking for suitable material remnants, batting, and helpers. The quilts are given to local charitable organizations and babies at their baptisms. Call Betty Hamman at 260-837-6901 to put someone on our prayer line. 

Coffee and Donuts Social

Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Coffee and Donuts are served on the lawn. Volunteers are needed to brew coffee, setup tables, and put donuts out. Contact Norb and Doris Miller for more information. 

Soup and Bread Suppers

The Catholic School Families group hosts soup and bread suppers on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:30 p.m. during Lent. Mass follows at 7:00. All donations support the Catholic School Tuition Fund. 

Worship Ministries

Eucharistic Adoration

Friday mornings from 7:00-8:00 a.m. the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by parishioners who come to pray before the Lord Jesus present in the Monstrance. It concludes with the Benediction. Followed by Mass at 8:00 a.m.

Altar Servers

Boys and girls from grade 3 and above who assist the priest at the liturgy.

Senior Altar Servers

Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Greeters/Hospitality Ministers

Parish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the church for Mass.

Ushers

Volunteers who assist people to their seat, if necessary. They also take up the collection.

Lectors

Readers who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass and other services.

Music Ministry

Join together in song, under the talented direction of our choir director, Mary Jane La Berge. Contact the choir director for more information.

Liturgical Linen Service

Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.

Sacristan

Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass.

Stations of the Cross

Held Friday evenings during Lent.

Outreach Ministries

Caregiver Companion - Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

Do you have one hour per week to come alongside the sick and homebound? You could visit an elderly person who gets lonely, help with housework, or go have lunch to keep someone company. This group also takes Communion and Scripture to those unable to leave their homes. Please call the Parish Office for more information or to alert us of your need.

Warm a Heart Food Bank

The Rosary Society provides supper from 5:30-7:00 p.m. once a month at Warm a Heart in Waterloo. Six volunteers are needed to work the meal from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Monetary donations are also needed. Please contact Joann Walker for more information.

Food Bank Donations

Food donations are collected the last Sunday of every month to support our local food banks. 

Funeral Ministry

Men and women who prepare and serve meals for funeral dinners. Sacristans also help prepare the altar for the Funeral Mass. Please contact Maryl Capaci or Ellen Buchs if you are available to be called on a rotating basis. You could also sign up to send in food if you are not able to work the meal.
